LIL WAYNE - SORRY 4 THE WAIT (MIXTAPE)

Almost a month after Mack Maine announced that Wayne would be dropping a new mixtape, “Sorry 4 The Wait” is finally here. As the title suggests, the 12-track mixtape is Wayne’s personal apology to fans for the delay in releasing his highly anticipated ”Tha Carter IV” album.
You can feel Wayne’s presence on a few of the tracks on the mixtape. The title of the opener, Tunechi’s Back, says it all. This one is packed with ruthless punchlines as Wayne attempts to set the tone for the rest of the mixtape.
Tunechi’s Back
One of the more surprising tracks Wayne jumps on is Kreayshawn’s Gucci Gucci. Wayne holds his own on the hook like no other: “Tunechi tunechi, tote the toolie, f*** around and pop ya/ My homies got that white girl, call it Lady Gaga.”

Some of the other standout tracks on the mixtape include Rollin’, Racks, and Hands Up.
Quite frankly, the first four tracks promise something the rest of the mixtape fails to deliver. I wasn’t really impressed with Wayne’s take on Marvin’s Room. This was the perfect chance for Wayne to show his versatility. I was expecting to hear that Weezy from Brand New, but he never emerged.
My verdict: Apology accepted Wayne, but we can only hope that come August 29 “Tha Carter IV” will make up for all that’s lacking on “Sorry 4 The Wait”.
P.S. - Who cleared Lil B’s verse on Grove St. Party? That was undeniably the worst 16 bars of 2011 yet. A Lil B feature, but no Drake feature? C’mon son.
